sintesi italiano

sintesi inglese

The PROMOITALS project, which came into being in 2006 with the aim of training teachers and professional figures working in the field of didactics and the spread of Italian as a foreign or second language, has now reached its fourth year. The PROMOITALS Master is a first Master’s degree for Italian and foreign graduates. The objective of PROMOITALS is to respond, thanks to its specific, university-level training, to the growing demand for qualified staff in Italy and abroad both in the field of Italian for Foreigners and in the field of promoting Italian language and culture abroad. Surveys carried out on Italian as a Second Language have demonstrated that motivations have changed and the picture is now quite varied: the new sectors involved in learning Italian are adult immigrants, children and adolescents whose parents are immigrants, Erasmus students, foreign learners in their own countries, learners of Italian origin. All these sectors have to be provided for in the most suitable way, taking into account linguistic needs that may often vary widely. In this context, the professional skills of the Italian teacher and experts who deal with promoting the spread of our language play an essential role. Bearing in mind these new needs, the PROMOITALS Master aims to train professional figures qualified to work mainly as: - teachers of Italian as a second or foreign language in local education programmes (CTP), in local bodies, companies, organizations connected to the world of work, associations and private schools, the Dante Alighieri’s Local Committees in Italy and abroad; linguistic facilitators in compulsory education; language teachers in University Language Centres, Italian teachers abroad, assistants and ‘readers’ in schools, Italian cultural institutes and foreign universities, in diplomatic work, Embassies and Consulates. - experts in the organization of promotional work on behalf of Italian language and culture, in the planning of cultural events, in the management and direction of courses in Italian language and culture; experts and consultants in the sectors of cultural and religious tourism, in the Commercial Offices of Italian diplomatic representatives and Consulates, in the offices of the Institute for Foreign Commerce, Italian Chambers of Commerce abroad, at the “Sportelli Italia” set up by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in agreement with Embassies and Consulates. The PROMOITALS Master is mainly taught online using integrated methodology, i.e. differentiating and complementing teaching approaches according to the content and the objectives. The programme has been planned to give priority to online learning activities, in order to make it easier for non-resident or working students to complete all the teaching modules, in view of the unlikelihood of their being able to attend physically for the 500 teaching hours generally expected by a Masters Degree in university. The contact hours (90) are therefore concentrated into 3 weeks, whilst almost all the Masters course can be completed through lessons online, audio and video lessons. The Masters also foresees a period of teaching practice at public or private institutions in Italy and abroad. Thanks to the network of collaboration existing with Milan University, trainees have the opportunity to do this either in Italy or abroad. As from December 2009, an online review will be published containing sections devoted to the constant updating of teachers. The most significant contributions will also be published on paper (one edition each year). Publication of short theses on particularly interesting areas of language teaching and organizational aspects is also foreseen
